The function of the cheese cover is to prevent the cheese from drying out and also to prevent the smell from spreading. You can either choose a set consisting of a flat tray and the cover of your choice in the right diameter, or buy a cover and tray set.

Professional Cheese Cover

The cheese cover is a transparent lid, sometimes made of glass, sometimes semi-spherical, sometimes dome-shaped (like the glass dome, a very tall and elegant cover), under which the cheese is placed to prevent it from drying out or to keep it at room temperature while protecting it from contact. It's an everyday object that also prevents the cheese from spreading its smell. If kept hygienically, it also protects the cheese from insects. The cheese cover is often accompanied with a wood, stainless steel or even glass tray. The tray and cover can also be used to display pastries, a cake or several small cakes, or other products that you wish to present in a hygienic way, as the products presented are protected. You can also create a cheese cover on a rectangular tray and opt for a rectangular cover.

A very trendy option is a slate cheese board, which ensures good cold conductivity, but on which it is not advisable to use a knife.

Cheese trays with cover

At Buffet Plus you'll find a range of round cheese trays with a roll top cover, with a choice of diameters, sizes and materials, stainless steel or glass trays, round stainless steel trays with a wooden board and rectangular stainless steel trays with a fixed cover, which can be used to present cheese or pastries on a buffet or table. This product is now widely used for serving cheese at home, when you've created a pretty cheese tray in the kitchen.

You can also choose cold buffets, which have the special feature of having a cold accumulator that you can choose whether or not to use for presenting the cheese.

Buffet Plus also offers a choice of cheese trays without a cover.

You'll also find a cheese curler with a cover for making pretty cheese shavings!

How do I choose a cheese cover?

The cheese cover determines the presentation of the cheese board. You can choose between a rectangular cheese board, which may be more suitable if your cheese board is spacious and you want to use a rectangular cheese cover, or a round cheese board, made of wood or slate, if you want to give it an authentic character and you want to use a plastic or glass cheese cover.

Choosing a cheese cover can be a practical and aesthetic decision, so make sure you choose one that not only meets your practical needs in terms of size and functionality, but is also aesthetically pleasing and easy to use and maintain.

Appropriate size: Make sure the cover is large enough to hold the cheese you want to store without it touching the walls of the cover. This will allow air to circulate around the cheese.

Materials: Cheese covers are generally made of glass, ceramic, metal or plastic. Glass is often preferred as it allows you to see the cheese without having to open the cloche, but other materials can be chosen to suit your personal preferences.

Style and design: choose a design that matches your décor or aesthetic preferences. Cheese covers can be simple and modern or ornate and traditional, depending on your taste.

Ventilation: some cheese covers are designed with ventilation holes in the lid to allow the cheese to breathe without accumulating too much moisture. We don't currently offer this type of model.

Easy to clean: choose a cheese cover that's easy to clean, preferably dishwasher-safe if you want to simplify maintenance.

Accessibility: make sure the cheese cover is easy to open and close for convenient access to the cheese.

Additional features: some models may include built-in trays or holders to help keep the cheese fresh and well presented.

Storing cheese

How should you store your cheese? At the bottom or top of the fridge? In its paper, in a plastic box or under a glass cover? If you don't have a cellar in which to mature your cheese, the best place to store it is in the fridge, in its individual packaging and in the vegetable part of the fridge. Your cheesemaker's paper is the best way to preserve your cheese, so don't replace it with plastic or aluminium foil... You can also keep soft cheeses with a bloomy rind in a cool place in their original packaging or under a cover.

Ideally, take them out of the fridge at least an hour before serving and place them on a cheese board with a cover.

If you'd like to present your bread under a cover, we have baskets that can be fitted with a cover or a tray and cover set.

Delivery times: Buffet Plus will dispatch your order within 24 to 48 hours if the product is in stock, otherwise it will generally take 10 working days.
